Succulent Heaven
I have realized this summer that I do NOT have a “green thumb”. I would like to think it is “not me”….but it may “be me”. One day it is freezing cold, the next day it is scorching hot, then for a week it is torrential non-stop rain. How can anyone figure out how to give these glorious “green creatures” the environment they need when the environment is so unpredictable. SO I decided to go the “easy route” and stick with succulents. I already had some succulent plants from some of my previous projects so I just expanded them a bit. See below my indoor succulent garden on display on my table.
3 Succulents on the box
You may recall the 3 succulent plants sitting on the box in the photo. Those were made with one of my previous blogs Yes you can-can.
2 Succulents in the tall planter
The succulent in the tall planter in the back of the top photo (to the left) is a pitiful story. I had gone to Big Lots to pick up a few things and found this white planter in a stand. It was really cute and only cost $10. I thought I would get creative and put my make up brushes in it in my bathroom. Well, clumsy-me dropped this planter on the ground as soon as I walked in my house. It, of course, shattered and “cheapy me” glued the thing back together. Well, it broke in so many places you could see the cracks everywhere. SO I decided to paint it my “go-to bronze” paint and see how it looked. Paint REALLY does hide many things. SO I decided to plant some succulents in it and I had a PLAN B for my make up brushes (for a later blog).
3 Succulents in the large round container
This planter was TOO easy. If you don’t recognize it it is a cookie tin. I have a lot of Christmas cookie tins and one of them had a pretty “beat up” lid. So I decided to go with my bronze paint and some thick jute cord to disguise “this baby” to make it look like a planter. I think I succeeded.
1 Succulent in the tiny container
This planter is made from a tuna can (not a cat food can BUT that would do). I decided to “shake things up a bit” and paint in chalk black first. Then I taped off the middle with some wasa tape and spray painted it bronze. After drying I removed the wasa tape and have a cute black stripe around the can.
1 Hanging Succulent
Let’s not forget the succulent plant I planted in my blog DIY Jute Cord Hanger.
If my succulent garden does not succeed then I guess I will have to go to “fake plants”….GOSH I hope not! Wish me luck!!!!
