DIY Storage Boxes from Cardboard boxes

I love to recycle! Recycling can be a “blessing” and a “curse”. I find myself saving things for future uses only to realize I may be at the beginning stages of becoming a hoarder. Cardboard boxes are my FAVORITE items to save. You can ask my family……any time we get a delivery in an Amazon box or any box they ask me “do you want to keep this box”? I am starting to say “no” because of space BUT I just recycled 5 cardboard boxes I am using for storage in my craft room. NOT BAD at all!

These actually turned out better than I anticipated. Here is how I created these DIY Storage boxes from cardboard boxes.

FIRST DIY BOX

Cardboard box
First find the box size you want. For this one I chose this Amazon box.
cut flaps of cardboard box
Cut the flaps off the boxes.
cardboard box with ribbon
I found some burlap ribbon that I had….I just laid these out to see how I would use them.

I was using the “see through” burlap ribbon on this box so I thought the BLUE Amazon wording might show through. SO I took some kraft paper.

I cut some small pieces of kraft paper and glued them over the BLUE wording.

Wrap the burlap ribbon around the box and cut to size.

Next hot glue the ribbon around the box. This ribbon was so wide that it only took two rows of ribbon to cover the box. This is the final product.

SECOND DIY BOX

I found another box and decided not to cover entirely in ribbon. So I wrapped the box in kraft paper first.

And then I decided just to hot glue one row of ribbon around the middle of the box. Here is the final product.

THIRD DIY BOX

Here is another small box I did the same way. In this one I hot glued the ribbon at the top of the box. This is the final product.

FOURTH DIY BOX

Here is a more shallow box that had a flip top. I cut the flip top off.
paint cardboard box
Since this box was more shallow I decided not to wrap in kraft paper…..instead I did a quick black paint on the box with some craft paint. It really took no time at all. This paint dries so fast!

After the paint dries hot glue a ribbon at the top of the box. Here is the final product.

You may be in the “same boat” that I am in that I am still trying to organize (being that is my New Year’s resolution). I take for granted that it is really not a big project….but it is. The good news is that I am almost finished reorganizing my craft room after I got these boxes done.

I hope you enjoyed this blog….next time you get an Amazon delivery, try making a DIY storage box.

Take time to revisit some of my previous blogs here. Take Care!
