New Year’s Resolution Time again!
I don’t know about any of you BUT I always try to set a New Year’s Resolution. I kinda “gave up” on the weight loss, exercising, etc. resolutions. Don’t get me wrong….those are GREAT resolutions….BUT I always ended up disappointing myself. For the past 3 years I have been setting the same New Year’s Resolution and I seem to be sticking to it each year. Mainly because it is a task that makes me want to complete it. The word “complete” is also very ambiguous because it is not “black and white”…..I dictate when it is completed.
My Resolution is “to purge”!!!! It is so gratifying to get rid of stuff but it can be stressful making the decision what to get rid of. I took some advise from a blogger, Allie Casazza. She is a professional organizer “of all things”. Every Jan 1st she does a 2 week challenge called “Declutter Like A Mother” aka DLAM. I am in that challenge right now. (It is not too late to join this challenge. Just click on this link and request to join.) She is very insightful in that she points out “purging allows you to get rid of the stuff that is no longer serving you to make space for the things that can serve you”. It is a fact that clutter causes stress in our lives so to be able to get rid of the clutter puts us on the road toward relieving some of the stress in our lives. This 2 week challenge that she has right now is very doable…..she has mapped out several areas of the house and advises us to ONLY spend 30 minutes per day on the task assigned. Right now we are doing the bathrooms. The goal is not to complete the total purge BUT to feel a small sense of accomplishment that will give us the drive to complete the entire task at another time.
One of the areas that I am completely revamping in my house, at this time, is my craft room. Right now it is in shambles because I am waiting on a delivery of a storage unit. Once I get my craft room “up and running” I will start to post more DIY crafts.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. Please stay tuned to future blog posts from ME!!!
Thank you, Karen!!
