DIY with Yarn

I love to craft……but if you are like me, you find yourself wanting to do everything you see. Pinterest is a blessing and a curse at the same time. Just when I think I have enough projects on my plate something else catches my eye on Pinterest and my plate becomes overfilled.

This past year I seemed to make a lot of DIY with yarn. I made a lot of trees and ornaments with bulky yarn and fur yarn. Click here if you want to see my post on these tress and ornaments. These were very popular so I ended up making quite a large quantity of them. I decided to experiment and see if I could use the bulky yarn and fur yarn on other seasonal decor. See below what I came up with.

Ornamental Balls

The yarn ball ornaments I made ended up being multi-functional. I have had a few customers who have requested these balls without the strings. I just took some existing ornament balls and turned them upside down to hide the strings. Right now I have these displayed in a dough bowl and a pedestal bowl.

Ornamental Hearts

With Valentine’s Day coming up I was wondering if I could use the bulky yarn and fur yarn to make some hearts. I had already made these hearts in a previous post. Click here to see that post. For this project I used some wood hearts that I purchased at Dollar Tree as a template to cut out cardboard hearts.

After I cut out the cardboard hearts I wrapped them in various yarns.

I made enough hearts to display in two separate bowls.

Ornamental Eggs

After Valentine’s Day we have Easter. So what better project to test than on some eggs. I found some styrofoam eggs for this project.

After wrapping numerous eggs in the yarns I was quite surprised how these eggs turned out.

I will be displaying these eggs in a ceramic Easter bunny bowl this Easter.

I’m not done yet….I can’t wait to see what else I can DIY with yarn!
