St. Patrick’s Day Decor

St. Patrick's Day decor

Since I have been doing some “crafting” I find myself decorating for the slightest little holiday that there is. I used to just let most of these holidays “go by”. BUT it was really fun and easy and CHEAP to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day! Here is how I created some of the St. Patrick’s Day decor you see here.

Almost everything you see in that picture came from The Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby. You will also notice I have recycled several things.

The gnomes in this photo have been recycled from my Christmas gnomes and my Valentine’s Day gnomes. I purchased socks from The Dollar Tree to change out the hats. I made the green clover garland with some clovers from The Dollar Tree and strung them on some jute string.

The framed photo in this picture is my “go to frame” that I use A LOT. I took some scrapbook paper to create the background and hung a clover that I purchased from Hobby Lobby. I refurbished this from my Valentine’s Day frame.

The wood frame to the left is just a plain wood piece I purchased at Hobby Lobby…..I lightly taped some clovers from The Dollar Tree. The tiered tray was a previous DIY project. I changed out the end of the beads at the top to a clover for the St. Patty decor. Also notice a glass jar with St Patrick’s Day decor….I just put a sock over the jar for a temporary decor.

Here is a St. Patrick’s day craft I did last year displayed on my front porch…….a moss-covered clover.

NOW let me “brag” for a moment on my husband. We live in an older house and we would LOVE to just “gut” the kitchen…..BUT unfortunately it is not in our budget. In this kitchen is a bare wall that we could never seem to utilize it to it’s fullest potential. We don’t have a lot of counter space and I do NOT like clutter on the counter with coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster oven, etc. SO I asked Scott (my husband) if he would be willing to join the “DIY world” and try to build a buffet type piece of furniture for that bare wall. I wanted it to 1. hide the dog feeding area 2. serve as a coffee bar and 3. “house” our microwave, toaster over and air fryer. I know that was asking a lot BUT he did it. After some custom measurements to make sure everything would fit he created exactly what we needed. See below.

I urge you to do something “out of your comfort zone”. Scott did and he really had fun AND it heightened his confidence. He went on to bigger and better things and made this barn door on his own…..FROM SCRATCH!!!

You can find anything in Pinterest nowadays. If you want to try to make something (like Scott did) just do a little bit of Pinterest search and get started. GOOD LUCK!!!
